Vinos Inacayal La Cueva
-
COUNTRY - Chile
-
REGION - Colchagua Valley
-
GRAPE - Carignan, Pais
-
FOOD MATCH - BBQ Meats, Lamb
-
ALCOHOL - 13.5%
PRODUCER: 'La Cueva' project set out to create excellent value wines, as naturally as possible, that faithfully reflect the place they come from. All fruit is sourced from old, dry-farmed vineyards. The local variety Pais has quite a story, being the first grape exported from Spain to Mexico in the 16th Century.
TASTING NOTES: A real gem from Chile, made from a juicy blend of Carignan and local variety Pais (which adds amazing colour and fruit flavour to a blend). 'La Cueva' is grown organically without any irrigation, as the vines thrive in the natural, dry heat of the Colchagua Valley. The result is a moreish red packed with black and red berry fruit, pepper spice and a delicate note of violet on the finish.

Gran Cerdo Tempranillo Rioja
-
COUNTRY - Spain
-
REGION - Rioja
-
GRAPE - Tempranillo
-
FOOD MATCH - Roasted Chicken, Chicken, Lamb, Veal
-
ALCOHOL - 13%
PRODUCER: The winemaker, Gonzalo Gonzalo Grijalba is a legend (and not just for his name) because he has proved that you can make a fantastic Rioja, following Organic & Biodynamic practices, at an affordable price.
WINEMAKING: Gran Cerdo Tempranillo is all about the purest expression of fruit with whole bunch fermentation, no filtration, no stabilization and minimal sulphur.
TASTING NOTES: The wine has real character, all the juicy elements of Tempranillo, with no dirty oak to mask its charm. It has a natural way about it but with no funkiness. With its cherry-red, purplish, brilliant colour Gran Cerdo reveals primary notes of fresh fruit, strawberries, raspberries, cherries and violets with clean mineral tones from the granite. This little natural wine is phenomenal value. The herbaceous flavours gives the wine a slight green finish with a little spice, while the tannin and acidity cry out for some red meat.
